Installation Information

  • Important fact to be aware about Windows Explorer
    •
    • Windows Explorer can really confuse the beginners by hiding the four rightmost characters of your file names. These four characters are called file extension and can be .COM .EXE .INI .KEY .TXT etc. If these characters are hidden, you might think that you have a repetition of the same file names while in fact the files names are different.
    •
    • You can correct this situation as follows
      • Open Windows Explorer
      • Select your CleanMP3 program folder
      • Click on Tools in the top of Windows Explorer
      • Click on Folder Options
      • Click on View
      • Make sure that the box "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked

  • If an older version of CleanMP3 installed on your PC, you don't have to uninstall the older version.
  • To install CleanMP3
    •
    • Open Windows Explorer
    • Go to the folder where you downloaded SETUP_1.exe from www.trycal.com
    • Double click on SETUP_1.exe
    • A Winzip window will open
    • Keep the default unzip location C:\CleanMP3\
    • Click on the Unzip button
    • Click on Ok button
    • Click on Close button
    • Eleven installation and setup files will be unzipped into C:\CleanMP3\
    • In Windows Explorer, double click on C:\CleanMP3\SETUP_2.BAT
    • It is best if you let the Setup application choose the default program location
    • You will click Next button through five different windows
    • Then, you will click on the Finish button in the last setup window
    • You are then ready to use CleanMP3
    • You can find CleanMP3 program icon in Windows Start All Programs
    • The program icon can be dragged onto your desktop
    • Please click on Program Execution to find out more about the program usage
    • If you have any problem, please don't hesitate to send an E-Mail to support@trycal.com
  • Installation Problem with Windows XP  (The same problem has been seen with Windows 2000)
    •
    • It has been reported, in very few instances, that while running Windows XP, CleanMP3 would not install when clicking on SETUP_1.BAT which calls the SETUP.EXE file.
    • Windows XP came up with the following message
      • 16 bit Windows Subsystem
      • C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
    • This is a very misleading message, but what it means is that for some reason, your Windows XP file AUTOEXEC.NT is missing in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\
    • Typically, you can find a copy of this file in C:\WINDOWS\REPAIR\
    • You just have to copy that file from the REPAIR folder to the SYSTEM32 folder.
    • If this file is nowhere to be found in your system, you just have to create this file with a text editor and have it filled with one empty line. The main thing for Windows XP is that the file name AUTOEXEC.NT does exist in the SYSTEM32 folder.
    • This problem is due to a spyware that took over your system.  The permanent fix is to download, install and run the free application called Spybot Search & Destroy.  It will scan for spyware, adware, hijackers and other malicious software.
